Patterns, Paws & the Great Outdoors
A creative life shaped by brindle paws, coastal walks and everyday inspiration…
Why I'm Excited About Spoonflower's New Shopfront Format
If you've been wondering where I've disappeared to lately, the answer comes with four paws and endless energy. Life with Lucy has been full of puppy training, new experiences and plenty of unexpected distractions. I'll share more about that in my next post, but for now I'm excited to talk about the new Spoonflower shopfront format and the banner I've created for my updated shop.
Our first week with Lucy
It's hard to believe that Lucy has only been with us for a week. In that short time, she's transformed our daily routine, kept us on our toes, and brought plenty of laughter into our home. Between training sessions, garden adventures and discovering the world one new experience at a time, life has become wonderfully busy. This is a look back at our first week together and the beginnings of what I know will be a very special journey 🐾

Meet Lucy’s mum! - The artist behind Aitch Jay Designs
In all the excitement of announcing Lucy’s arrival, Heather forgot to introduce herself. Here’s the story behind Aitch Jay Designs, her coastal inspiration, and the creative life Lucy is about to join.
Lucy’s fur: A brindle colour story
Every now and then, nature decides to have a little fun! Lucy’s golden‑flecked coat tells the story of the rare brindle Labrador — a colour born not from mystery ancestry, but from a tiny recessive gene quietly hiding in the background. It’s genetics with a touch of magic, and a reminder that even the most familiar breeds can surprise us.
Coastal creativity & a brindle spark of joy arriving in the studio soon!
Little Lucy, our brindle Labrador with golden flecks, arrives on 19 September. A sprinkle of magic is about to weave its way into my creative life on the far south coast of WA.
